Mutual Aid Report: Sex Workers’ Crisis Fund (1 October - 31 December 2025)

The Sex Workers’ Crisis Fund is a mutual aid initiative facilitated by Vixen, that supports Victorian sex workers in crisis to access essential needs such as food, groceries, phones, credit, transport, accommodation, rent, bills, and healthcare.

Access to the fund is designed to be low-barrier, confidential, and responsive, recognising that many sex workers cannot safely access mainstream services.

The fund is not government funded. It is sustained through individual donations and fundraising at Vixen events and other sex worker and ally events. 100% of funds go directly to supporting sex workers in crisis.

Every 3 months, Vixen shares how funds from the Sex Workers’ Crisis Fund are used to support sex workers experiencing crisis.

This report covers Q2 of the 2025–26 financial year (1 October – 31 December 2025) and outlines how crisis funds were distributed through peer-run mutual aid.

The crisis fund supports sex workers experiencing:

  • Family, domestic and sexual violence

  • Homelessness or housing instability

  • Illness or injury

Support is provided through rapid-response payments to help cover immediate needs.

From 1 October 2025 – 31 December 2025, the Sex Workers’ Crisis Fund:

  • Distributed a total of $9,200.27 in crisis payments

  • Crisis payments were made to 46 individual sex workers

  • Issued 52 crisis payments

  • Averaged $176.93 per payment

Crisis payments are designed to address urgent needs that can quickly escalate without support.

In this quarter, payments supported sex workers to:

  • access emergency accommodation when experiencing family, domestic or sexual violence

  • afford food and groceries during periods without income

  • stay warm while sleeping rough

  • maintain phone access to stay connected with supports

  • travel to medical and legal appointments

  • cover essential bills during periods of illness or injury
